Greg Tobias has more than 35 years of experience in real estate development, land acquisition, leasing, construction and environmental law,  built almost entirely in-house as general counsel to retail and land development companies.

At Outside GC, Greg advises developers, retailers, and landowners across the full lifecycle of a real estate project, from acquisition and entitlements through construction, leasing, and ongoing operations. His work spans sophisticated development projects, retail leasing, airport concessions, and construction contracting, and he has managed commercial litigation, insurance programs, corporate governance, and intellectual property matters. Greg’s clients rely on him to bring clarity to complex business and financial decisions, find creative solutions that account for their commercial realities, and build consensus among the public and private parties a project depends on without losing sight of his client’s objectives.

Prior to joining Outside GC, Greg served as General Counsel and Secretary for WHSmith North America in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was responsible for all legal work associated with more than 400 retail locations across the United States and Canada. Before WHSmith, Greg was General Counsel for Tejon Ranch Company in California, handling all legal matters associated with the marketing, financing, construction, development and operation of The Outlets at Tejon and the Tejon Distribution Center complex.

Previously, he was Associate General Counsel for Olympia Land Corporation, supporting  the development of the Southern Highlands master-planned community in Las Vegas, and as Assistant General Counsel for The Howard Hughes Corporation, where he was responsible for legal work related to Summerlin, a 23,000-acre master-planned community.

Greg earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and his J.D. at Southern Methodist University School of Law. An experienced public speaker, Greg has also been  a principal performer in regional theater and Las Vegas productions.
