Professional Summary

Naomi Biswas is a biotechnology intellectual property attorney with more than 25 years of experience advising universities, research institutions, startups, and global life sciences companies on the protection, commercialization and strategic management of intellectual property assets. Drawing on experience in both in-house and private practice roles, Naomi helps clients align patent and trademark strategies with broader business, licensing, and commercialization goals.

Naomi works extensively with university technology transfer offices, advising on the protection and commercialization of life sciences innovations and supporting licensing and collaboration strategies designed to move technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace. She also counsels companies ranging from early-stage startups to multinational corporations on strategic portfolio development, licensing transactions, infringement analysis, and transaction-related due diligence.

Her experience spans a broad range of technologies and therapeutic areas, including genomics and post-genomics technologies, gene editing, antibody engineering, small molecule, biologic, and nucleotide-based therapeutics, as well as oncology, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, and central nervous system disorders. She has also advised clients in the chemical industry.

Prior to joining the firm in 2010, Naomi served as Director of Intellectual Property for Centeon (now CSL Behring), a multinational pharmaceutical company specializing in blood plasma-derived therapies and biologics. As lead U.S. patent counsel, she oversaw the prosecution and management of the company’s international patent portfolio and worked closely with senior leadership to develop and implement patent strategies and manage all IP-related due diligence for licensing transactions, financings, and potential mergers and acquisitions.

Earlier in her career, Naomi was a partner in the intellectual property group at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo and began her legal career at the Philadelphia intellectual property boutique Synnestvedt & Lechner.

Naomi earned an A.B. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where she served on the law review.

When Naomi is not practicing law, you might find her on the tennis court.
