Philip Yachmetz brings more than 45 years of experience to companies of all sizes, public and private, in life sciences, healthcare and other sectors having served as Chief Legal Officer, business advisor, and C-suite operating executive. His work is anchored in complex transactions, corporate governance, and business development, and he pairs analytical rigor with operational judgment and tenacity to deliver results that reach the bottom line.
Philip is known for a hands-on approach to understanding a client’s business, and for identifying and implementing creative solutions to complex challenges. He has guided companies through critical inflection points in their development and operations, including distressed companies undergoing restructuring and turnaround. His experience spans billions of dollars in transactions, including complex commercial and manufacturing agreements, in and out licensing, co-development and co-marketing arrangements, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and 363 sales under the US Bankruptcy Code

Prior to joining Outside GC, Philip served as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Teligent, Inc. a publicly traded specialty generic pharmaceutical company; as Chief Legal Officer of Sovereign Medical Services, Inc., a privately held, fully integrated community healthcare system and management services organization (MSO) spanning a multi-specialty medical group, ambulatory surgical centers, family urgent care centers, and cancer care centers. He has also served early-stage and commercial-stage biopharmaceutical companies — including Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Progenics Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Triax Pharmaceuticals, Inc. — as Chief Legal Officer, Co-President, and in other operating executive roles, as well as an independent director.
Philip received his B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University and his J.D. from California Western School of Law and is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
Outside of work, Philip travels to live jazz festivals and events, collects and tastes fine wine, cooks, enjoys dining out, boating, and working out in his home gym.
