Jeanne Augspurger

Jeanne Augspurger brings decades of leadership experience across private practice, government, higher education, and the nonprofit sector, giving her a cross-disciplinary perspective on complex decisions at the intersection of legal risk, business strategy, public policy, and stakeholder interests.

Known for practical, solutions-oriented advice, Jeanne regularly handles commercial real estate leasing, development, and construction; complex commercial and transactional matters; public-private partnerships and procurement; board governance and compliance; and litigation and risk management. She is especially skilled at helping clients navigate high-stakes decisions, build consensus among diverse stakeholders, and move high-profile initiatives forward.

Jeanne’s real estate practice covers the full life of a property, from site selection and letters of intent through leasing, development, construction, and operations. She represents landlords and tenants in office, retail, industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, logistics, and transportation properties, whether leased or owned, handling leases and subleases, ground leases, assignments and renewals, tenant build-outs, SNDAs and estoppels, day-to-day property management matters, economic development incentives, and related environmental matters.

Jeanne also counsels GCs and in-house legal teams on the practical use of AI — what it’s good for, what it isn’t, and how to get useful output from it — and presented a 2026 Lawline program, “AI in Law: Is the Billable Hour Dead?” Throughout her career, she has focused on creating internal efficiencies that make legal work faster and more consistent, from training leasing and property management teams on standard real estate documents at Regency Centers to creating a college-wide compliance program at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Prior to joining Outside GC, Jeanne served as President and CEO of the Jacksonville Civic Council, where she worked closely with national and regional business executives to solve complex economic and public policy challenges affecting Northeast Florida. Earlier, she served as General Counsel and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Florida State College at Jacksonville, leading the institution’s legal department and overseeing all legal, compliance, governance, and regulatory matters. Jeanne also served as Executive Director of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission, Northeast Florida’s preeminent economic development agency, where she led large economic development projects and public-private partnerships across the region. Earlier in her career, she was the second lawyer hired in-house at Regency Centers, a national shopping center owner and developer, where she handled leasing, development, construction, and property-related litigation.

A deeply engaged civic leader, Jeanne has led and advised numerous boards and commissions, including the Florida State University National Alumni Board, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, Goodwill Industries of North Florida, the Jacksonville Charter Revision Commission, and state judicial nominating commissions. She was inducted into the First Coast Business Hall of Fame in 2022 and currently serves on the board of the Florida Council on Economic Education.

Jeanne resides in Jacksonville and Amelia Island, Florida, with her husband Mark and their Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Major Tom. A self-described Navy brat raised in Florida and the Republic of Panama, she enjoys gardening, cooking, fishing, and traveling to see her favorite bands.
