Mike Plantamura has over 30 years of experience providing legal and strategic advice to companies across a range of industries, with a particular focus on commercial leases, contracts, and commercial transactions. Mike has negotiated numerous multimillion-dollar office and industrial leases, technology, licensing, programming, and service agreements.

Before joining the firm, Mike served as General Counsel of Urban One (formerly Radio One), a publicly held diversified media company, where he led the company’s legal team in handling a wide range of legal and strategic needs, including Urban One’s $40 million investment in the MGM National Harbor casino and the related company licensing by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. He also oversaw the company’s commercial lease negotiations for its office and broadcast studio facilities in 15-plus urban markets, as well as for its corporate headquarters.

Prior to Urban One, Mike served as General Counsel at Matrics Technology Systems, a startup developer of proprietary radio frequency identification reader and integrated circuit technology, where he partnered with company executives and engineering staff to negotiate technology agreements, vendor partnerships, and product trials.

Previously, he was Vice President and General Counsel at CAIS Internet, where he served on the senior management team and helped transition the company from a privately held, long-distance telephone operator into a publicly traded, national tier-one internet service provider offering proprietary broadband services.

Early in his career, Mike served as General Counsel for Corridor Broadcast Company, a privately held television broadcasting company. He began his legal career as an associate at Patton, Boggs & Blow in Washington, D.C., where he practiced general corporate law and litigation.

Mike graduated from Yale University with a degree in economics and earned his law degree from Yale Law School.

Mike has been an active member of his community over the years, serving as Chair of the Town Council of the Town of Chevy Chase View, Maryland, coaching youth baseball for many years, volunteering at his children’s elementary and high schools, and serving as a Bar examination grader for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

Mike grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, and Morristown, New Jersey, and has been a resident of Kensington/Chevy Chase View, Maryland, for 30 years. His wife, Mary, recently retired from her position as an attorney with PBS, and they are the proud parents of four adult sons. In his free time, Mike enjoys reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction, is an avid sports fan, and loves music, travel, the beach, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
